How it works

Register your school to receive the Challenge guidelines, marking rubric, and workbook.

Form teams of 5 students (max) comprising of Year 7-9 (Junior Divison) and/or Year 10-12 (Senior Division)

TM
Design and build a model hydrogen fuelled autonomous vehicle using any materials (eg. balsawood, Lego , 3D printing, etc).
Create a presentation addressing specific requirements highlighting the model

Nine teams (3 Primary Schools and 6 Secondary Schools) from each State and Territory will be selected to present via Webex. VIC teams will be required to present on stage at the 2024 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix

Winners will be selected from each State and Territory, and will receive prizes.
Important dates
Submissions (First Round)

Presentations must be submitted by 5PM (AWST) on 26 February 2024

Schools will be notified of their success to proceed to the next round by:

VIC schools: no later than 5PM (AEST) on 4 March 2024

All other States/Territories: 5PM (AWST) on 5 April 2024

Oral Presentations (Second Round)

Selected teams will be required to attend the 2024 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park where they will present on stage in front of a panel of judges on the following dates:

Primary Schools: Thursday, 21 March 2024

Secondary Schools (Junior and Senior Divisions): Friday, 22 March 2024

Teams that are selected for the second round will be required to present via Webex to a panel of judges:

Winners will be announced on the day of their oral presentations
