The Bee’s Knees Challenge is back for 2025 - bigger, buzzier, and more exciting than ever! In partnership with Save the Bees Australia, this national STEM adventure invites primary school students across Australia to step into the world of pollination, sustainability, and environmental science.  Through hands-on experiments and creative problem-solving, students will tackle real-world challenges and compete for amazing prizes - all while making a positive impact on our planet.

How It Works

  • Register Your School: Sign up your school, class or family to join the challenge.

  • Get Your Challenge Kit: Access your digital pack loaded with engaging activities, worksheets, and experiments - everything ready to go. 

  • Complete the 6 Activities: The Challenge includes 6 fun, hands-on STEM activities designed for Grades 3–6. Each one fits neatly into a STEM class session (with the first two able to be completed in a single lesson).

​Here’s what students will do:​​
1️⃣ Research different types of bees & write short descriptions.
2️⃣ Create a chart of flower colours & types that attract bees.
3️⃣ Design a bee-friendly garden with schematics or drawings.
4️⃣ Build the garden design using any medium — Minecraft, Lego, cardboard, or even a real garden!
5️⃣ Reflect on how bee-friendly spaces benefit the community.
6️⃣ Create a video (max 5 mins) showcasing Activities 1–5. 🎥
  • Submit Your Project: Upload your students’ video submission to showcase their discoveries, ideas, and solutions.
  • Celebrate & Win: A panel of STEM experts will crown the winners and award incredible prizes, trophies, and national recognition.
Registration & Cost
Schools: $220 per school – with unlimited teams included. Full access to all challenge resources, guides, and support.

Parents & Homeschoolers: Just $49 per family – perfect for single students or siblings learning at home.

Who Can Participate?

Schools: Open to Grades 3 - 6 across Australia. Students  form teams of up to 5 and compete for prizes.

Homeschoolers & Families: Whether you’re a solo learner or siblings at home, you can join too! Parents/homeschoolers, simply get in touch with us at info@stemhub.com.au to register your family.

Students: Team up with friends and ask your teacher or parent to sign you up. ​​​
