While the Victorian finalists presented live on stage at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, schools from across Australia competed in the Interstate Division of the 2026 Green Grid Challenge.

This year’s Green Grid Challenge Interstate Winners represent some of the most impressive student engineering ideas submitted from schools across the country.

Teams submitted video presentations outlining their research, design thinking and innovative solutions, with judges reviewing submissions from multiple states and territories.

Green Grid Challenge Interstate Winners

Each of the teams below delivered outstanding submissions, combining technical thinking with clear and engaging presentations.

Senior Secondary School Division

Como Secondary College (Western Australia)

The judges were highly impressed by the depth of thinking and clarity of presentation demonstrated by student Andre Kwan (Team Kwanium) from Como Secondary College.

His submission stood out for its strong technical reasoning and his ability to clearly communicate his ideas through a structured and engaging video presentation.

In fact, the judges noted that this submission would have been highly competitive in the Victorian finals held at the Australian Grand Prix.

You can watch his outstanding submission below.

Judges’ Commendation

St Margaret Mary’s College (Queensland)

The judges also awarded a Special Commendation to St Margaret Mary’s College in recognition of the quality of their submission.

The team delivered a highly engaging presentation and demonstrated excellent effort and creativity in their approach to the challenge.

While they narrowly missed the top position, the judges felt their work deserved special recognition.

Junior Secondary School Division

Norwood International High School (South Australia)

The junior division produced a number of excellent submissions, with Norwood International High School ultimately selected as the Interstate Division winner.

Their team demonstrated strong teamwork, thoughtful problem solving, and an impressive ability to explain their ideas clearly on camera.

Their video presentation captured both the technical aspects of their concept and the enthusiasm of the students involved.

A National Effort

STEM Hub's Motorsport Challenge Series continues to attract talented students from across Australia who are passionate about engineering, innovation, and sustainability.

Every team that participated contributed thoughtful ideas and demonstrated the curiosity and determination that drives the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers.

Congratulations to all students and teachers involved in this year’s Interstate Division.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to seeing even more schools from across Australia participate in STEM Hub's next Motorsport Series Challenge and continuing to celebrate the incredible ideas being developed in classrooms nationwide.
