Core Scientific Skills

Fuelling the Future Challenge offers students the chance to dive into the exciting world of hydrogen-powered vehicles, aligned with the Australian Curriculum's focus on scientific inquiry and innovation. As the world of motorsport shifts towards sustainability, students will research the potential of hydrogen fuel in F1® racing, design solutions to enhance vehicle performance, and create a 3 minute video showcasing their innovative ideas and findings. This challenge encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and the practical application of science to solve real-world challenges in the racing industry.

Students in a Science Class

Curiosity and Exploration

Investigating Hydrogen Power - Students begin the challenge by exploring the potential of hydrogen fuel in motorsports, sparking curiosity about its benefits and applications. They ask key questions about how hydrogen-powered vehicles could revolutionize racing. This aligns with the Science Inquiry Skills strand, encouraging students to pose questions, form hypotheses, and investigate new energy sources.

Sustainability Focus

Understanding Green Energy Solutions - As students examine the environmental impacts of traditional fuels versus hydrogen, they gain insights into sustainability and renewable energy. This ties into the Science as a Human Endeavour strand, helping students understand how scientific developments shape sustainable practices in industries like F1®.
